In China one of the most important services that a modern bank provides is the savings business. With a regular passbook savings account you have opened in a bank， you will be able to draw money whenever you need it. All banks pay interest on savings accounts. If you keep your money in the bank for a certain period of time， you can get a higher interest rate by buying a savings certificate. The longer the period， the higher the interest rate.
在中國，現(xiàn)代銀行所提供的最重要的業(yè)務之一就是儲蓄存款。有了銀行開立的普通儲蓄賬戶存折，你就可以隨時取款。所有銀行都對儲蓄存款支付利息。如果你購買了一張儲蓄存單，把錢存放在銀行一段時間，你就會得到較高的利率。期限越長，利率越高。
Another service that banks in the big cities provide is safe-deposit boxes， where you can keep important papers and valuables. As a rule， you should fill out a signature card and pay some fee. Then you will get a key to your box， and the bank will keep another key. With your genuine signature and these two keys， you can open your box.

In China's big cities a new service started in recent years is the credit card. All charges made on your card are sent to the bank， and you are required to pay once a month. To get a credit card， you must fill out a form that requires you to tell about your salary and other income. If your credit is not good， the bank will not give you a credit card， but these services do not provide a major source of income for the bank. Now the bank's largest source of income is through loans， mainly made to businesses and also to individuals for the purchase of houses.
在中國大城市，近年來開辦的一項新業(yè)務是信用卡業(yè)務。你卡上所付的一切費用都將通過銀行入賬，你必須每月結(jié)付一次。你要辦一張信用卡，需要填寫一張表格，寫明你的薪金和其他收入。如果你的信用不好，銀行就不會將信用卡給你。但是，這些業(yè)務并不給銀行提供主要的收入來源。現(xiàn)在，銀行的絕大部分收入來源是通過發(fā)放貸款獲得的，主要是向企業(yè)，也向購買住房的個人發(fā)放。
